Powder dip nails for beginners
Step by Step instructions…

Want to keep that $50-60 biweekly in your wallet and do your dip nails at home but think it’s too hard? I am here to tell you that it’s much easier than you might think and I will walk you through the steps. I linked all the products I used below and have added in some very important tips and tricks that will make it super easy for anyone to complete this look, even beginners!
Cut and file your nails to desired length and shape.
File the nail itself (this helps to hold onto the product and your manicure will last longer)
I used this Nail Kit (includes base coat, activator, top coat and colored powder) for the rest of the steps. I used color: Honeymoon.
Apply the base coat to 3/4 of the nail, leaving a little space where the cuticle is. (prevents the base of the nail from getting too thick)
Immediately dip your nail into the powder at a 45 degree angle, then tap excess off.
When done with the hand, brush off excess. I used this brush.
Repeat steps 4-6, making sure to move closer to the base of the nail each time in order to fully cover the nail from base to edge…. I would recommend two or three times (depending on how opaque you would like the color to be). [I did three times]
Apply activator (this is an IMPORTANT step as it hardens and sets the powder—if you miss it, the top coat will not cure properly)
PRO TIP: with non lint rag, use either a cleanser (from a gel polish kit, if you have one) or alcohol to wipe the nail once the activator is dry. I noticed the first time I did dip that I may not have waited long enough after the activator to apply the top coat and my brush on my top coat became hardened. The chemicals in the activator must have hardened my brush and it made it very difficult to apply the top coat properly. After trial and error, I found the above method to resolve the issue and work really well!
Once that is done, use a nail file and tap your nails to ensure they are hard. Once they are, file them once again until smooth.
Apply top coat. (I usually apply two coats of this because I like the shiny and sleek look). Wait a few minutes then VOILA- dip nails at home!
